Resolutions

It is solstice today. Shortest day of the year and the default hippy holiday in December. Also the one that makes the most sense to me. It's the darkest day of the year and each one after has more light. But it's so imperceptible, this shift. I don't notice it for months on a biological level.

I'm not a big believer in new years resolutions but I figure if it helps people with difficult life choices that are beneficial for the most part, have at it. The thing that strikes me here is that nature provides a sweet lesson in consistency. Little by little the daylight reappears until it's the glorious, plant filled days of spring and summer. Change takes time and often is done with steps that are imperceptible to most. If we keep at them though we can do some pretty fantastic things. So, I am going to try and not rely on being perceived as I move towards positive change but instead being consistent with little things. Working on small systems of change that add up over time.

Good luck this next year. Be well. Enjoy the moments you can and find the ground again when you cannot.
